WorkCover Occupational Health and Safety requirements are that the periodic servicing and testing as set out in Australian Standard 2243.8 is the minimum maintenance programme that shall be instituted.

As the largest manufacture of Fume Cupboards in Australia, it can also provide full testing and maintenance back-up for Fume Cupboards and other chemical exhaust systems via our fully trained servicemen. 

Dynaflow is NATA registered and, if required, can provide NATA certification of Fume Cupboards.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE  SCHEDULE 

This schedule is based on the minimum AS 2243.8 requirements. 
Six Monthly 
The following maintenance and testing operations should be carried out: 

 

A

Perform a smoke test in accordance with Appendix F.

B

Perform a face velocity test in accordance with Appendix E.

C

Inspect and maintain fans, their motors, drives (including belts) and bearings.  Lubricate where appropriate.

D

Check that the scrubber and washdown facility, if fitted, is functioning efficiently.

E

Inspect the fire damper and the release mechanism, if fitted, and replace fusible link, if required.

F

Check that any air cleaning device, if fitted, is operating efficiently and maintain if required.

G

Check the condition of the thermal detector and sprinkler heads, if fitted.

H

Remove any baffle(s) and clean both the baffle(s) and the rear of the chamber.

 Annually 
 In addition to others specified in clause 5.5.3, the following additional maintenance  operations shall be carried out:

A

Wash entire interior surface of the chamber including the aerofoil, if fitted, with diluted detergent solution and repair defects as necessary.

B

Check condition of the services to the cupboard and ensure that all are properly identified and operational.

C

Check stability and condition of the discharge stack.

D

Inspect condition of the exhaust ducting, where possible, particularly the joints and ensure drain points are clear.

E

Check make-up of air balance.

F

Check condition and satisfactory operation of the fume cupboard control system.

G

Check operation of the emergency isolator and isolation of services (see Clause 2.2.4).

H

 Check operation of the automatic isolator by providing inadequate air flow conditions to the fume cupboard (see Clause 2.2.3).

J

The system shall be tested for overall compliance with the Standard. 

K

Attach a self-adhesive label to the fume cupboard showing the inspection date, name of inspector, report number, overall test result (Pass or Fail) and the date the next inspection is due.
